Each year millions of refugees suffer during the harsh winter months. Existing heating methods are commonly hazardous, producing toxic fumes, causing accidental fires, and are harmful to the environment.

Millions are spent yearly by the UN and aid organizations on winterization programmes for the refugee camps, yet we still see an increasing number of cold weather related illnesses and deaths each year.

LEADERSHIP TEAM

Sri Hollema

Managing Director and Founder

Sri Hollema originally developed Mat Zero as her Product Design & Technology BSc (Hons) final year project at Loughborough University. It was subsequently showcased at the New Designers 2022 show in London and as part of the GreenGrads showcase in Manchester.

Informed by her experience growing up overseas, in particular in developing countries, and driven by her passion for the environment, Sri’s mission was to design a product that would aid vulnerable communities. 


Mat Zero is founded on Sri’s extensive research, conducted with NGOs working with refugees and internally displaced people. She has taken Mat Zero from concept to physical prototype. Now, with a best-in-field team of experts and mentors to working alongside her, Sri is bringing Mat Zero to market.

Andy McKay

Director and Technology Mentor

Andy is one of the UK’s most successful and influential Smart Energy entrepreneurs. He is MD of Evergreen Smart Power, a Board Member at EV-Comply and holds NED or Advisor positions in a number of businesses in the GreenTech market.

Andy brings to Mat Zero his experience of building multiple successful GreenTech businesses, along with deep technical and commercial expertise in product development, value engineering, and supply chain optimisation.

Dr Alan James

Director and Strategy Mentor

Alan is Founding Partner at Expert Alliance, the specialist practice providing strategic advice and project direction at the highest levels of Governments, the EU, and corporate C-Suites.

Alan brings to Mat Zero his innovation project leadership skills, his B2G experience, and his insights as publisher of the influential blog “How to Electrify Your Life, Save Loads of Money, and Save the Planet”, which offers practical advice on how to pursue Net Zero Carbon at domestic scale, and evidences the financial and carbon benefits of doing so.

Graham Hansen

Legal Director

Graham Hansen is a director and owner of an alternative legal services provider, Lawbox Group Ltd. He has extensive experience working in the City in private practice, as well as in-house in regulated businesses, so he appreciates the need to combine a pragmatic approach with specialist advice.

Graham’s practice specialises in supporting innovative, creative and sustainable businesses. He engages design led principles to make legal services more accessible, flexible and focused on the end user/client experience.

Jordan Brompton

Director and Leadership Mentor

Jordan is Co-Founder and CMO of myenergi, one of the UK’s fastest growing GreenTech companies. She is one of the UK’s most influential female business leaders, and was awarded “Great British Entrepreneur of the Year 2022”.

Jordan brings to Mat Zero her experience of the successfully navigating the path from start-up to multi-million pound company in the Smart Energy space, and her invaluable network of customers, suppliers and influencers. She will take the lead in mentoring Sri’s development as the leader and public face of the Mat Zero business.
