Mat Zero is a safe and sustainable heating solution for refugees disaster relief and informal settlements.
Mat Zero is a three part modular product consisting of a heated mat, the Energy Hub and solar panels. The mat provides heat using safe carbon fibre heating technology that can be installed in any type of shelter. Each modular component can be used in combination or independently.
For example, the mat can directly be plugged into existing electrical infrastructure if and where applicable. Users can sit/lay on the mat to feel the warmth from the ground up.
HOURS OF HEAT
Mat Zero’s portable solar panel charges the energy hub battery in order to power the heated mat. Alternatively, other sources of renewable energy can be used, depending on the availability of existing independent off-grid systems.

PLUG & PLAY
The energy hub serves as a critical focal point in the refugees’s home. Encasing the rechargeable battery, this control unit features USB charging points for mobile phones, contains collapsable lamp and can support other household electrical items such as fan, radio or wifi router, through a 12V port in addition to its main function of powering the heated mat.
Its intuitive and easy-to-operate features make Mat Zero’s energy hub a prime example of inclusive design. It can be plugged into any power source for recharging such as solar, wind or mains, to be used off-grid.
compact & portable
Mat Zero’s sitting mat can be heated to 30-40°C, providing warmth for the entire family. It can be unfolded onto any floor surface to provide warmth from the ground up. Its insulated layers make it energy efficient and comfortable for the user. Powered by Mat Zero energy hub, but has the design flexibility to be plugged directly into alternative power supplies, such as renewable sources or mains. The user can individual control desired temperature outputs via the control unit.
